Horton’s Farm  Clinic Weekends – 2017

Enjoy the summer and fall weather at Horton’s Farm riding in clinics tailored to your needs.  We offer training sessions for longlining, flat work, jumping, gymnastics, lead change work, as well as ground manners.   Also cross country schooling in a calm atmosphere, to educate your derby hunter or your event horse.

If competition is not your goal, enjoy riding with friends in lessons, and a relaxing ride on the beautiful hills of Mount Tom located in Woodstock, VT.

Our goal is to provide a fun and relaxing weekend while helping you meet your goal.  Horton’s Farm puts horsemanship first, and we want all of you to leave here feeling satisfied that you learned something new, and enjoyed the process.

Tune Up for Fall Derby Finals & an Excuse to Jump

July 28 -30

Adult and JR. Riders

This is a good weekend to tune up your jumping skills and/or get ready for the fall derby finals. Courses begin at 2’6, and up. School on the lovely user-friendly cross country course located at Three Ponds Farm in Springfield, NH.

Horsemanship Day Camp

Aug. 12-13

For kids 10-14, who have limited or no show experience.

Come one or two days and learn basic horsemanship skills. Bring your horse or die one of ours.  The cost for this camp is $125 per day, plus $20 if you bring your own horse (you provide your own hay and grain, we supply shavings). The camp runs from 9-4, lunch is included.

Ride While You Still Have Time

Aug. 25-27

Adult and JR. Riders

This weekend is geared towards riders who do not compete but love to work on the flat, ride over small fences or not, and enjoy trail riding. Laid back and relax, no show stress, have fun learning more about yourself and your horse.

Working Riders Mini Camp

Sept. 15-17

Open to riders who currently ride at Horton’s Farm

Begin with a Friday evening lesson, followed by dinner and discussion, and a Sat. trail ride, with bag lunch.

Jump your Heart Out

Sept. 29-Oct. 1

Adult and Jr. Riders

This camp will concentrate on equitation, gymnastics, and course work. This is for riders comfortable jumping 2’ 6 or higher. More advanced groups will work separately.

Fall Foliage Weekend

Oct. 13-15

Adult and Jr. Riders

The first day we will concentrate on flat work, and discuss how to deal with trail obstacles, bushwacking, mud vs muck. On Sunday enjoy a trail ride through the NH hills.


Clinic maximum 6 people

We have a two bedroom house on the farm, that can comfortably sleep 4 people. The main house can sleep two more.

Box stalls are available, shavings included.


The cost is $400 per person for the full weekend. It includes two nights of stabling for horse and rider, all meals,  and all clinic costs. You provide your own hay and grain.

Continental breakfast and box lunch provided. Dinners will be at the main house, delicious meals with our own veggies.  Gluten free and other dietary restrictions can be accommodated.


You are welcome to arrive Friday 2:00 or later, the rings will be open so you can hack and get your horse acclimated. Saturday clinics begin at 9:00 sharp.  Lunch will be available between 12-1, followed by more clinics. Time off to relax and shower from 4-6, and then dinner at the main house.   The Sunday schedule is 9:00 to 1:00 or later if necessary. We know you need to travel home.

Changes in the schedule will be determined by weather.
